A six-time James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: South, Clay Conley revolutionized the Palm Beach dining scene with Buccan, a modern American small-plates focused restaurant that draws influence from the bounty of seasonal American ingredients and flavors from around the globe. Platform by JBF is thrilled to welcome chef Conley for an evening that showcases the best of Buccan. Thoughtfully chosen wines from California’s prestigious Eisele Vineyard and Altagracia will accompany each course for an elegant meal that celebrates the innovations of new American cuisine.

About Clay Conley:
Chef Clay Conley has worked his way around the kitchen since his teenage years washing dishes. Raised on 30 acres in rural Maine in a 17th-century home heated only by wood fire, his childhood was defined by exploring the wilderness, raising farm animals, and tending to the land. This rustic upbringing ultimately influenced his style in the kitchen, and today Conley is known for his seasonal, robust, wood-fired cuisine.

In 2011, Conley opened his first chef-helmed venture, Buccan. The modern American restaurant focuses on complex yet balanced small plates and is credited with revolutionizing the Palm Beach dining scene. Conley followed Buccan’s success with Imoto (“little sister”), a Japanese/Asian concept next door inspired by his time living in Tokyo. In 2016, Conley opened Grato, a neighborhood restaurant in West Palm Beach that features a multi-cuisine menu of seasonal, chef-inspired dishes. Conley also founded the high-quality, fast-casual epicurean sandwich and salad concept, Buccan Sandwich Shop, which opened its first location in 2015 directly next to Buccan on Palm Beach, and a second location in 2023 directly next to Grato in West Palm Beach.

A six-time Best Chef: South semifinalist, Conley and his restaurants have been recognized in national and international media.  


Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. Unless otherwise stated, alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are not included in the ticket price.

James Beard Foundation events permit guests age 21 years and older to attend events where alcoholic beverages are served.
