His upcoming Afro-Latino restaurant in New York City celebrates the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean cuisines through rum culture, seafood, steak, and salads. About JJ Johnson:
Chef JJ Johnson’s work has earned him numerous accolades, including a James Beard award for his cookbook Between Harlem and Heaven, and a two-time spot on the Nation's Restaurant News Power List. He hosts his show, Just Eats with Chef JJ. Chef JJ's latest cookbook, The Simple Art of Rice: Recipes from Around the World for the Heart of Your Table, was released in fall 2023. At FIELDTRIP, JJ's rapidly growing multi-unit fast casual rice bowl concept, he champions sustainability, working with local rice farmers and producers to source the freshest ingredients. With three locations throughout New York City, he is a community advocate for food justice and equity, raising awareness within the industry.
Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education and a unique dining experience. Meals are prepared by culinary masters from all regions of the United States and around the world. Unless otherwise stated, alcoholic beverages are provided on a complimentary basis and are not included in the ticket price.
