September 30, 6:30 P.M. Demo and Dine: Holiday Recipes with the Jewish Food Society, Chef Caroline Schiff, and Writer Bess Kalb

September 30, 2024 06:30 PM

Celebrate the High Holidays with a Talk, Cooking Demo, and Tasting of Holiday Dishes From Around the World

25 11th Ave, New York, NY 10011, USA

In The Jewish Holiday Table by Naama Shefi and the Jewish Food Society, family recipes tell the stories of how Jewish people live, love, celebrate, and mourn. In Jewish culture, food highlights seasonality, contains symbolism, and, as the name of the book implies, is a reason for loved ones to come together for festive gatherings.
As the High Holidays approach, join Jewish Food Society founder Naama Shefi for a conversation about Jewish food traditions, identity, and memories. Moderated by JBF’s Sari Kamin, the panel will also include James Beard Award–nominated pastry chef Caroline Schiff and bestselling author Bess Kalb. Additionally, JFS culinary manager Chaya Rappoport will lead a cooking demo featuring a Rosh Hashanah recipe from the cookbook, and guests will have the chance to taste holiday dishes from around the world featured in the book.
Copies of The Jewish Holiday Table by Naama Shefi and the Jewish Food Society with Devra Ferst are available for purchase with tickets or at the event from our partners at Kitchen Arts & Letters.
