Raised in a family of Gujarati home cooks in New Jersey, Hetal Vasavada gained notoriety on Gordon Ramsay’s MasterChef as the show’s first Hindu vegetarian contestant. Her celebrated blog Milk and Cardamom and subsequent book of the same name give followers access to her prolific baked creations inspired by the vibrant flavors of India.
In celebration of Holi and her newest book, Desi Bakes, Hetal is coming to Platform for a sweet afternoon of cooking and tasting. Vasavada will demonstrate how to make her Masala Chai and Kesar Pista Cream Puffs. Guests will taste a selection of decadent treats from Desi Bakes while sipping chai and enjoying warm conversation with the beloved baker and author.

Tickets to events held at Platform at Pier 57 by the James Beard Foundation cover the cost of food, education and a unique dining experience.
